Guys and Dolls will be presented at Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake from July 5-22. Guys and Dolls is a musical fable of Broadway based on a story and characters of Damon Runyon, music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. One of Broadway's greatest successes, Guys and Dolls won five Tony Awards, including the award for Best Musical. Many remember the music most from the 1955 film version, starring Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, Jean Simmons, and Vivian Blaine. The most recent revival on Broadway starred Nathan Lane and Peter Gallagher.
Now this very popular musical comedy is coming to Schoolhouse Arts Center, starring David Heath from Hollis as Nathan Detroit, Samuel Clarke from Windham as Sky Masterson, Jessica Ernest from Gorham as Sarah Brown, and Pam Tordoff from Gorham as Adelaide. Guys and Dolls will take you from the streets of New York City to Havanna, Cuba, from the oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York to the Save-a-Soul Mission, and from the Hot Spot night-club to the New York City sewers. You'll laugh as you watch this colorful crew of characters scheme, gamble, bet, and fall in love, while listening to the harmonies of "A Bushel and a Peck," "Luck Be a Lady," or "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat." This is a perfect musical comedy for audiences of any age!
