A classic holiday film is brought to life through the collaboration of Pulitzer Prize and Tony award winner Sheldon Harnick and Grammy and Emmy winner Joe Raposa.
George Bailey is expertly played by Josh Witham, who has a voice and stage presence that will have you right there cheering him on. Pam Tordoff plays Mary Bailey, his loving wife. You might have seen her this summer in The Music Man as a "Pick a Little Lady". The story of George Bailey and his life in Bedford Falls remains a timeless tale of dreams, disillusionment, and the power of love.
Tom Littlefield plays Mr. Potter, and makes you want to rush down on stage to help George and the townsfolk save Bedford Falls from his greedy hands. Keith Halliburton, who is not a stranger to theater, or the Schoolhouse Arts Center, is directing this musical at Schoolhouse. He was Ebeneezer Scrooge in last year's A Christmas Carol. He will also take on the role of Clarence, the angel. Kevin Smith is the Music Director, and was last seen at Schoolhouse playing for A Christmas Carol. Choreography is done by Vicki Lloyd, Director of Center of Movement Performing Arts. All of the cast from Katherine Stickney, who plays Zuzu Bailey to Bob Mosey, who plays Joseph, the Head Angel, take you back to Bedford Falls to a time when things were simpler, and neighbors were there to help each other.
A Wonderful Life - The Musical is playing at Schoolhouse Arts Center from December 2-18 (Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.). Tickets are $14 for students and seniors and $16 for adults. Call 642-3743 for reservations.
Adapted from the Frank Capra film "It's a Wonderful Life." Books and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and music by Joe Raposa, "A Wonderful Life" is presented through arrangement with Rogers and Hammerstein Theatricals.
