It's December 21st, 1942: The world is at war and it is the "Golden Age" of radio. At radio station WOV we see a cast of characters rehearse and perform a live variety show. Come be a part of the live studio audience for WOV's special Christmas production. Schoolhouse Arts Center in Sebago Lake Village invites you to return with them to the golden days of radio with its re-creation of Walton Jones' The 1940's Radio Hour. The heart warming production will lighten your heart with songs like, "Ain't She Sweet", "That Old Black Magic" and "Merry Little Christmas". Interspersed with comedy routines, story sketches and real, old-fashioned commercials and jingles, the show is sure to please everyone in the family.
Director Linda Sturdivant and her daughter Music Director Sara Sturdivant, have combined their talents to put together a wonderful evening of holiday entertainment. The ensemble cast is made up of some of the best the area has to offer in talented actors and musicians. Local musician, tenor Todd Hutchisen plays "the boy next door" BJ Gibson who takes over as the featured soloist spot to save the show. Multi- talented Josh Witham plays 1st Lieutenant Biff Baker. He is spotlighted as tenor sax soloist and vocalist. Schoolhouse favorites include Mike Dupre as the star-struck delivery boy. Keith Halliburton & Mike Harris combine their comic talents as doorman & stage manager. Jerry Walker plays harrassed announcer Clifton Feddington. Rounding out the Schoolhouse favorites are mezzo-soprano Mindy Paterson and tenor Ted Tocci. USM music students include baritone Bill Ellis, sopranos Janelle LoScuito and Allison Sproul, and alto Meghann Connell. The onstage orchestra is led by talented pianist Kevin Smith (Zoots Doubleman) and is made up of USM jazz musicians.
