If you believe in Santa Claus and the Spirit of Christmas, then you'll want to be sure to attend The Schoolhouse Art Center's production of Miracle on 34th Street, running November 30 through December 16. Director Michael Hjort brings this beloved holiday classic to life, inviting us to re-examine exactly what it is we believe in.

Everyone, especially children, knows that the holiday season is the time for miracles. However, seven-year old Susan Walker (played by Clara Stickney of Hollis) has doubts about childhood's most enduring tradition--Santa Claus. It seems Susan's skepticism is fueled by the fact that her mother (played by Angela Berube of Standish) is in charge of the commercialization of Christmas in her position as personnel manager at Macy's Department Store. Susan's mother told her the "secret" about Santa Claus a long time ago, and now Susan has no illusions about receiving the most important gifts on her Christmas list. Until, that is, she meets Kris Kringle (played by Jerry Walker of Sebago), Macy's magical store Santa Claus. With some help from his handsome friend Fred (Mike Harris of Gorham), Kris convinces Susan that things aren't always what they seem. This holiday season Susan is going to receive the most precious gifts of all--something to believe in and faith that miracles really do exist.

This is the perfect holiday show to bring the whole family to-- enchanting for children of all ages! Running November 30 through December 16, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Order your tickets today by calling Standish Video at 642-8273 or order online. For more information about the production, call Schoolhouse Arts Center at 642-3743.
